It does not get any better than Food Truck Thursday. Whether you need to relax after a long and hectic day at work or are looking for a romantic place to go on a date, this is a guaranteed good time. This event occurs every Thursday from 6-9 pm, and all one would have to bring is a blanket and their appetite. Here, one will have a unique dining experience and take a break from their overwhelmingly busy lives. Aside from being delicious, this event is equally as beautiful. Lake Ella is dimly lit, which creates a romantic and serene atmosphere. People are lying down in their checkered blankets and simply enjoying the breathtaking view of the lake and the live music. While the children are dancing the night away with their families, pets are running around, and college students are trying new food, meeting new people and roaming the stores.

Food Truck Thursday is home to more than half a dozen different vendors. The line-up includes Fired Up Pizza Truck, Foodz Traveler, Julio’s Food on the Move, Lucy & Leo’s Cupcakery, MoBi, Street Chefs and the Valhalla Grill. All of the food here is homemade which can be just what a college student needs. This event could make any student miss home just a little less. They have Cuban food almost as good as the one your mom makes, tacos and quesadillas to satisfy anyone’s cravings, and burgers bigger than your face. For those that feel like trying new things, they also have Mediterranean food. Foodz Traveler’s motto was more than fitting, “Some of this…Some of that.” This truck had sandwiches, tacos and quesadillas, and mouthwatering sides such as the “Oven Baked Bacon Mac-n-Cheese, and the “Crinkle Cut French Fries.” Their Brunch Burger was anything but traditional. This burger has 1/3 lbs. of lean Angus Beef, avocado, onions, lettuce, tomato, hash browns, provolone cheese, a fried egg, topped with bacon jam, and roasted garlic aioli, served in a croissant roll. For those that have a sweet tooth, Lucy & Leo’s Cupcakery has “artfully decorated and delicious cupcakes” made from scratch. They have explosive flavors such as the Black Forest, Champagne Raspberry, Chocolate S’mores, and many more. You can also enjoy a frozen treat at Big Easy Snowballs, and Barb’s gourmet Brittles where they sell gourmet candy and ice cream.

When you are done eating you can enjoy the scenery, listen to the live music, or go check out the stores. The music at Food Truck Thursday varies which offers a different experience with every visit. The music that can be heard here is usually folk, classic rock, the blues, and jazz. This is a great opportunity for local musicians to get their music heard as well. Their musical guests have recently been Crossroads, Big Poppa and The Shuffle Brothers, and Belmont and Jones. After a night at Food Truck Thursday, one may want to take a souvenir home. Decorate your home with the wonders that Chandler Market and Glasswork by Susan provide. Quarter Moon Imports has a unique style, and here anyone can purchase goods such as clothing, jewelry or home decorations.

Come to Lake Ella and support your local vendors and musicians. This will definitely be an evening to remember!
